Vertigo & Dizziness Assessments
Most people experience dizziness sometime in their lives. When a person becomes dizzy he or she risks falling and permanent injury. Vertigo may be a sign of an inner ear disorder called BPPV or it may be related to other conditions like migraine, Meniere's disease, medication and even thyroid problems, to name a few. It is estimated that as much as 25% of all medications list "dizziness" as a side effect.
Vertigo may last a few seconds or all day. It may come on suddenly and last several days and then go away or it may be chronic. Vertigo may be caused by head trauma when a person is in an automobile accident.
It is important for the physician to be able to diagnose the cause of vertigo or dizziness before adequate treatment can begin. Dr. Granville Brady and his associate, Anita Bhandarkar specialize in videonystagmography or VNG. VNG is one of the best tests to determine the possible causes of vertigo and dizziness. VNG's are done in the office. VNG tests are recommended for anyone having a head trauma or car accident, a feeling of vertigo when arising from bed and the sensation that the room is spinning. VNG tests are done at both the Clifton and East Brusnwick offices of Dr. Brady. Medicare and most insurance covers the cost when referred by the patient's doctor.
